Arroyo Cerezo

Partial view of the reef pinnacles at Arroyo Cerezo site.
Arroyo Cerezo is located at the border of the Valencian country, inside the Iberian Range and in a environment with great abundance of limestones. The organisms had a distinguished paper in the formation of these limestones and thereby they contain fossils. Some of these fossils belong to coral and sponges, who form great reef associations.

These Upper Jurassic reefs are well-preserved and have a notable scientifical relevance because of their size and geographical situation at the northwestern Tethys. They are made by fragmented corals and stromatoporoid sponges.
