Awards & grants

Key roles for the 1st IMERP / XIV EJIP are to recognise excellence in young researchers. The awards and grants are international in scope, and there is no limit of nationality. Thus, thanks to our supporting entities, the organizing committee can offer differents awards and grants.

Grants

SVP grant. The Society of Vertebrate Palaeontology (SVP) will allocate two grants of 200 euros each one in order to fund two student attendants members of the SVP. To be eleigible, you have to be the first author of at least one of the contributions to the congress, and fill the form available here. The priority will be given to SVP members, people coming for long distances and studients who do not benefit from any other grant.



Awards

SEP award. The Sociedad Española de Paleontología (SEP) will grant two awardsto the best communication (oral or poster), voted among those attending the 1st IMERP / XIV EJIP. The winners will be awarded with a diploma during the SEP Annual Assembly within the XXXII Jornadas de Paleontología, to be held in Molina de Aragón (Guadalajara, Spain) from 21 to 24 September 2016.



In addition, the winners will have free registration as SEP members for a year, free registration to the XXXII Jornadas de Paleontología, economical support for acommodation and subsistence expenses duting those days (100 €), and the opportunity to defend the awarded work on the XXXII Jornadas de Paleontología and publish it in the Spanish Journal of Palaeontology.

Transmitting Science award. Among all the speakers, Transmitting Science (TS) will grant an award to the best oral communitation. Among all the speakers, the Organizing Committee will choose the best speech, which will receive one free course from TS. 


TS offers a great variety of courses that cover a wide range of research methods aimed at postgraduate students, postdoctoral researchers and stablished academics. Their courses and workshops are organized into: statistics, evolution, system biology, geneticas and genomic, phylogeny, ecology, biogegraphy, palaeontology, geometric morphometrics, imaging and drawing and reconstruction. All courses are imparted by leading experts in their fields, so this award represents a great opportunity to improve the their konwledge in their field!


II Somosaguas Prize. This award is sponsored by the Somosaguas Team, from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

The requirements for the candidates are:
  • Younger than 25 years old (included).
  • 1st or 2nd participation on the EJIP.
  • 1st or 2nd author of a work for an oral presentation.
The works will be evaluated by the organizing committee, based on their scientific quality.

The prizes includes:
  • Shirt and pins with paleontological logos.
  • Several books and journals dealing with palaeontology and geology.
  • Prize winner certificate.
